A chance meeting at the Nampa Festival of the Arts
I recently had the opportunity to sell my books, along with three other fellow authors, at the Nampa Festival of the Arts. The temperature was over 100 degrees but the canopy and slight breezes throughout the day made it bearable. And the heat didn’t deter the crowds. I had fun talking to so many people that stopped by our Local Authors booth. Across the way was a booth that displayed a symbol of a Celtic knot, so, of course, I had to investigate. There I met Tawny, a talented macramé artisan from Nampa. As we exchanged stories and she learned about the Gallagher Girls mysteries, she confided, “I had an encounter with my mother’s spirit when she passed…”

“Mom loved to watch the I Love Lucy Show. She and I used to watch it at our lake retreat. Our favorite episode was the “Vitameatavegamin” one, where Lucy keeps taking spoonful after spoonful of the “healthy” drink which actually contains alcohol and she gets tipsy.
“When Mom was sick she told me she would try to send me a sign after she died.
“A few weeks after she passed, I was going through her house and I found a metal thermometer sign I had bought her years prior. It had the “Vitameatavegamin” photo from I Love Lucy on it. I took it back to my apartment that evening and sat the sign in a pot with my favorite plant and went into my room to go to bed.
“I turned on the TV and there, without my choosing any channel or service, was Lucy! And not just any episode of the Lucille Ball Show — THE “Vitameatavegamin” episode.
“I knew she was there with me, giving me the sign she said she would send.”
